About
Geoffrey O'Neill is an emerging Director of Photography with a rich foundation in film studies and a keen eye for visual storytelling. Currently completing a degree with a focus on Media Arts, Geoffrey’s journey began with a love for the camera, often capturing moments through photos and videos that sparked his passion for crafting narratives.
Professionally, Geoffrey has developed his skills by working on a range of productions, from student films and short features to multimedia installations. Recently, he led the camera department for a student film exploring themes of matriarchal heritage and modern feminism, using a thoughtful approach to composition and adaptive lighting techniques. His creative direction in this project included overseeing intimate portrait photography that captured the subjects' emotional depth, further refining his hands-on experience in portraiture and storytelling.
Alongside his primary roles, Geoffrey has also contributed as a lighting lead and camera assistant on various student productions, including work on his capstone project—'Heritage'—an installation that combines film, photography, and interactive elements to reflect on femininity and generational resilience. While balancing multiple projects each semester, he has built a diverse and evolving portfolio in visual storytelling.
Geoffrey is enthusiastic about expanding his technical expertise in cinematography, particularly as a Director of Photography and in camera assisting roles. His interests extend to exploring creative lighting setups, unique camera techniques, and mixed media projects, and he’s always eager to take on new challenges. Passionate about the film industry, Geoffrey continues to pursue opportunities that will allow him to refine his skills and make his mark as a cinematographer
